Chicken Fried Chicken Recalled Over Metal Fragments

WASHINGTONAdvance Pierre Foods, an Enid, Okla., firm, is  establishment, is recalling approximately 1,200 pounds of chicken fried chicken breasts that may contain small pieces of metal, USDAs Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Jan. 25.

The recall involves cases containing six 22.75-ounce pouches of Fast Classics Chicken Fried Chicken Breasts bearing the establishment number "P-2260Y" inside the USDA mark of inspection, and a "best by" date of Jan. 22, 2014, the lot number 1522960202, and a UPC number 75901-33100. The products were distributed in Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.

The problem occurred when a small metal hand tool fell into a grinder, which was discovered by the company's metal detectors. Although the company began diverting product, the product being recalled was packaged and shipped before all corrective actions could be taken.
