China Bans Melamine in Dairy Products

BEIJINGChinas Ministry of Health on April 22 canceled rules that melamine may be added to dairy products in limited amounts, according to a report in China Daily.

Sixty-six new rules have amendments on the regulations for baby food and integrate 11 previous standards into four new ones covering all basic categories of baby food. There are no stipulations on the use melamine in the new rules, which means the chemical is no longer allowed to be used in dairy products.
