Chobani Removes Foul-Tasting Yogurt From Retail

NORWICH, N.Y.Greek-style yogurt maker Chobani voluntarily has asked U.S. retailers to removed specific lots of its yogurt cups from store shelves after numerous consumer complaints about foul smelling and tasting yogurt, and bloated containers. While the company has not initiated an official recall, it said all affected product bear the code 16-012 with expiration dates from Sept. 11, 2013 to Oct. 7, 2013.

A statement on the companys facebook page read: There is nothing more important to us than the quality of our products. We're currently in the process of voluntarily removing and replacing some products from store shelves that did not meet our rigid quality standards."

As reported by Medical News Today, a company press release said the company ran an investigation and found that only 5% of its products were affected. [Chobani] is limited to products produced at our Idaho facility, which accounts for only one-third of our production capacity."
