Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Eggs Recalled Over Salmonella

WASHINGTONZachary Confections, Inc., is recalling certain production lots of its Zachary Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Eggs because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced today.

The recall involves 5-ounce Zachary Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Eggs packaged in white egg crates with purple, green and yellow lettering. The egg crates are marked with UPC 0 75186 15797 8 and best buy dates of Feb. 14, 2014. The candies manufactured Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, 2013, and distributed to retailers in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Production of the product has been suspended while FDA and the company continue their investigation as to the source of the potential problem.
