Con Queso, Salsa Recalled Over Botulism Fears

WASHINGTONMama Rose's Gourmet Foods, based in Phoenix,  is recalling Cilantro Con Queso, Garlic Con Queso, Viper Venom Con Queso and Hopi Corn Salsa because they may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Jan. 20.

The recall involves 12-ounce jars of Mama Rose's Cilantro Con Queso, Mama Rose's Garlic Con Queso, Mama Rose's Viper Venom Con Queso, Mama Rose's Hopi Corn Salsa, and Fred Harvey Hopi Corn Salsa.

All con queso products have expiration dates of Jan. 10, 2012, and earlier; the salsa products have expiration dates of Jan. 6, 2013, and earlier. The recalled products were distributed to retail stores and gift shops in Arizona and Washington.
