Corn Chowder Soup Recalled in 15 States

WASHINGTONMorgan Foods, Inc., based in Austin, Ind., is recalling approximately 94,850 pounds of corn chowder soup products in 15 states because they may contain foreign materials, USDAs Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The problem was discovered when the company received two consumer complaints about finding pieces of a marker pen in the soup.

The recall involves 18.8-ounce cans of Hill Country Fare Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder," Wegmans Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder," Chefs Cupboard Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder" and Americas Choice Chicken Corn Chowder Chunky" with best-by date of 01 Mar 2014" stamped on the bottom of the can. The cans are also distributed in trays of 12 with a case code of B2912" on the case tray. The products subject to recall bear the establishment number P-1469" inside the USDA mark of inspection on the label. The recalled soups were produced Feb. 29, 2012.

The recalled soups were distributed to retailers in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.
