Diamond Pet Foods Expands Recall to Include Puppy Food

WASHINGTONDiamond Pet Foods, based in Missouri, expanded its multistate recall of dry dog food to include a third batch of dry dog food that may be contaminated with Salmonella, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced today. Todays recall involves Diamond Puppy Formula dry dog food distributed in 12 states.

In April, the company recalled Diamond Naturals Lamb and Rice dry dog food and Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul Adult Light Formula dry dog food in 10 states over Salmonella fears. Diamond Pet Food halted production at its Gaston, S.C. plant two days later.

Today the company announced a recall of  8-, 20- and 40-pound bags of Diamond Puppy Formula dry dog food. The recall also includes 6-ounce samples of the same formula.

The recalled Diamond Puppy Formula dry dog food was manufactured by Diamond Pet Foods in Gaston, S.C., and distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The product may have been further distributed to additional states through retailers and pet food channels.
