DSM Meets Ethical Trading Initiative Standards

DELFT, The NetherlandsAs part of its continuous drive for quality and sustainability improvements, DSM Food Specialties has been recognized as meeting the standards of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI)also called the SEDEX SMETA-4 pillar auditthat investigates labor, health and safety environmental and business integrity within the company worldwide.

The SEDEX SMETA-4 audit uses the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) base code, which is founded on the conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and is an internationally recognized code of labor practice. Examples of required standards in place for the audit are the assignment of health and safety responsibilities to a senior management representative, as well as regular training. In relation to environmental practices, water, energy and resource conservation is in place and a transparent system regarding business ethics ensures the possibility for confidentially reporting incidents without fear of reprisals. DSM will be encouraging its own suppliers to live up to the same values and norms and publish its audit results via the SEDEX platform.

The auditing process is a continued part of DSM's Quality for Life program that invests in quality, reliability,traceability and sustainability of its operations. The company will encourage its own suppliers to live up to the values and norms and publish the audit results via the SEDEX platform.

In addition to this recognition, DSM Savory announced all of its savory production sites in the Netherlands and China have achieved Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 certification, recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). The company also expects to start up its new Savory Drying facility in the Netherlands in the last quarter of 2013.
