NEWTON, Wisc.Enreco, Inc. obtained third-party verification of a 5-log kill step for its flaxseed ingredient processing lines. This is well in excess of the FDA-mandated threshold for pathogen kill-step validation. The company is a supplier of whole-grain flaxseed and sorghum ingredients.

According to the company, whole grains and nutmeats, because of their relatively unprocessed natures, have been sources of concern as potential vectors for the introduction of foodborne pathogens into baking and other food-processing environments.
