FDA Appoints Interim Dietary Supplement Director

COLLEGE PARK, Md.FDA announced the appointment of Philip C. Spiller as interim director of the Division of Dietary Supplement Programs in the Office of Nutrition, Labeling and Dietary Supplements, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN). Spillers appointment follows the recent retirement of Vasilios Bill Frankos, Ph.D.; he will oversee the division while CFSAN engages in a national search for a new director.

Spiller has been with FDA since 1981 and has held senior executive leadership positions throughout his tenure at the agency. He has served in the Office of Legislative Affairs in the Office of the Commissioner, including a time as deputy director; was special assistant to the commissioner on seafood-related matters and director of the Office of Seafood; and has been senior advisor for special projects to the director of CFSAN.
