FDA Has No Questions on MegaNatural GRAS Status

MADERA, Calif. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) informed Polyphenolics, a division of Canandaigua Wine Co., that it has no questions regarding the companys GRAS (generally recognized as safe) affirmation for its MegaNatural Gold Grape Seed Extract and MegaNatural GSKE Grape Pomace Extract. The GRAS affirmation permits use of the ingredients in fruit juices and fruit flavored beverages.

FDAs letter, based on our own GRAS affirmation, affirms the acceptability of using MegaNatural Gold Grape Seed Extract and GSKE Grape Pomace Extract in the fruit beverage segment, said Anil Shrikhande, president of Polyphenolics. It is a giant step toward expanding the availability of these two products beyond the realm of nutraceuticals and into the mass marketplace.
