FDA Seizes Illegal Herb-based Drug

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.Boxes possibly tied to an illegally marketed herb-based drug product were seized by federal agents from a house believed to belong to the manufacturers CEO. FDA had warned Grand Rapids-based Impulsaria LLC this past November that their sexual performance product being sold as a dietary supplementcalled Stiff Nightswas adulterated with sulfoaildenafil, a chemical similar to sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra. The agency was concerned sulfoaildenafil could interact with prescription drugs known as nitrates, including nitroglycerin, and cause dangerously low blood pressure.

FDA has not issued any statements on the latest enforcement action, and the Stiff Nights Web site was down at the time of this posting.
