WASHINGTON—FDA announced a permanent injunction against Wilderness Family Naturals, Silver Bay, Minn., which the agency charged with promoting its products with unapproved claims for serious disease conditions, including cancer, diabetes, AIDS and heart disease. Under terms of the consent decree, the company and its owners are prohibited from manufacturing and distributing any products with unapproved claims that the products cure, treat or prevent diseases. Further, Wilderness Family must remove disease claims from its product labels, labeling and Web sites, as well as references to other Web sites containing such claims; it must also hire an independent expert to review all product claims to certify to FDA that the company is not making any illegal claims.
