Food Ingredient Companies Optimistic

BOSTONDuring the Barclays Capital 2009 Back-to-School Consumer Conference held Sept. 10, leaders from the food ingredient companies said they were optimistic about the future of agribusiness and said they would continue to focus on emerging growth areas such as grains, biofuels and possible acquisitions.

As reported by BakingBusiness.com, Bunge Limiteds CFO Jacqualyn Fouse said the company has increased its share of world grain business over the past few years and will continue to focus on emerging growth markets in Asia, Eastern Europe and the Black Sea. She also noted that Bunges agribusiness is thriving from its sugar interests as it continues to develop expertise in biofuels.

Ilene S. Gordon, chairman, president and chief executive officer at Corn Products International, Inc. said the company is , exploring international growth opportunities and identifying potential acquisitions.
