Food-Safety Alert: Cherry Tomatoes Recalled Over Salmonella

WASHINGTONCapital City Fruit, Inc., based in Norwalk, Iowa, is recalling cherry tomatoes shipped by Rio Queen Citrus, Inc., because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The recall was triggered after random testing of an incoming shipment of cherry tomatoes testing positive for Salmonella, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced.
The recall involves Capital Brand 1-Pint Clamshell Cherry tomatoes shipped to retailers in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin between Nov. 14 and 18, 2012.
