Fresh Express Veggie Lovers Salad Recalled Over Listeria

WASHINGTONFresh Express, based in Salinas, Calif., is recalling 2,825 cases of Veggie Lovers Salad because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Aug. 10.
The recall was initiated after the Ohio Department of Agriculture confirmed a positive result for the bacteria during random testing and involves cases of Veggie Lovers Salad bearing the product code I208 and use by date of Aug. 10, 2010.
The products were distributed to retail and redistribution outlets in Arkansas, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
