WASHINGTONThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is seeking public comments through April 9 on the possible acquisition of a Whole Foods Market store in Portland, Maine, by Trader Joes East Inc. An application was filed by the Divestiture Trustee overseeing the implementation of FTCs order that certain former Wild Oats Markets locations be divested by Whole Foods Market to restore competition that was lost after Whole Foods acquired the Wild Oats chain in 2007. The Divesture Trustee previously requested FTC approval to sell former Wild Oats stores in Kansas City and in Boulder, Colo.
