Healthy INSIDER Podcast 37: Assessing Trump Administration, NDI Guidance at UNPA Conference

During a one-day conference held on Feb. 9 in Salt Lake City, the United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) assembled experts to explore a range of emerging issues in Washington, from an executive order signed by the president to a 102-page draft guidance document published last year by FDA.

American businesses—including the US$40 billion supplement trade—are striving to comprehend the implications of several policy changes that have been adopted early in the Trump administration.

During a one-day conference held on Feb. 9 in Salt Lake City, the United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) amassed experts to explore a range of important issues in Washington, from an executive order signed by the president to a 102-page draft guidance document published last year by FDA.

In this podcast, Sandy Almendarez, editor in chief of Natural Products INSIDER, and Josh Long, legal and regulatory editor, discuss a few themes that were covered at UNPA’s conference, including:

  • The potential impact of an executive order to reduce regulations;

  • A meeting UNPA held with FDA officials to discuss the 2016 new dietary ingredient (NDI) draft guidance; and

  • Efforts to develop an old dietary ingredient list that FDA would consider authoritative.
