In February, FDA issued an import alert for kratom that effectively cut U.S. supply to the botanical. According to DEA, the new dietary ingredient has no legitimate medical use, and can lead to addiction and psychotic symptoms. FDA's import alert affected 27 companies, and another has pulled kratom from shelves in a voluntary recall.
