Kyowa Completes GRAS Self-Affirmation for L-Ornithine

ANAHEIM, Calif. Kyowa Hakko USA completed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) self-affirmation for its L-Ornithine amino acid, which helps to build muscle through stimulating protein synthesis.

We are excited about having GRAS for L-ornithine as this will expand the use of this important amino acid into traditional food and beverages," said Toshikazu Kamiya, Ph.D., CEO and president of Kyowa Hakko USA.

The GRAS affirmation includes L-Ornithine, L-Ornithine Monohydrochloride, and L-Ornithine L-Aspartate. Kyowa Hakko USA will market L-Ornithine as a food ingredient for use at levels of 200 mg per serving. The ingredient can be incorporated into food products such as beverages, milk products and fruit juices.
