Kyowa Hakko U.S.A., Inc. announced it has completed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) self-affirmation for the amino acid L-Citrulline.

L-Citrullin plays an important role in nitric oxide (NO) metabolism and regulation. It is converted to L-Arginine in the body to support L-Arginine levels and NO levels. Increased production of NO promotes vascular dilation, which improves oxygen and blood circulation throughout the body. L-Citrulline is can also relieve muscle fatigue by eliminating ammonia.

L-Citrulline is preservative- and allergen-free and has no artificial flavors or colors. It is marketed by Kyowa Hakko USA as a food ingredient in the United States for use at levels of 275 mg/serving and up to a maximum of 2,000 mg/day in various food products and beverages.
