Listeria Prompts Cheese Recall in Oregon, Washington

WASHINGTONDel Bueno, a Grandview, Wash., firm, is recalling all size packages of Queso Fresco Fresh Cheese, Queso Panela Fresh Cheese, Requeson Mexican Style Ricotta Cheese and Queso Enchilado Dry Cheese because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Nov. 17.

The recall involves 16-ounce packages of Queso Fresco Fresh Cheese (UPC 75318225028) and 3-pound packages of Queso Fresco Fresh Cheese (UPC 753182814063) with date codes up to and including Feb. 10, 2011; Queso Panela Fresh Cheese (UPC 753182814056) with date codes up to and including Feb. 10, 2011; Requeson Mexican Style Ricotta Cheese (UPC 753182814070) with date codes up to and including Jan. 10, 2011; and Queso Enchilado Dry Cheese with date codes up to and including March 15, 2011.

The recalled cheeses were distributed to retail markets in Washington and Oregon and a flea market in Pasco, Wash.
