Listeria Prompts Salad Recall on East Coast

WASHINGTONState Garden, a Chelsea, Mass., firm, is recalling all salad products produced in its plant on Jan. 4, 2011, because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced today.

The recall involves various sizes of salad products and blends distributed to retail stores on the East Coast under the brand names Gold Quality, Hannaford, Natures Place, Natures Promise, Roche Bros, Northeast Fresh, Noreast Fresh, Olivias Organics, Signature and Wegmans.

The salad products have trace back code numbers 45693 and 45703 and best if used by" dates of not later than Jan. 15, 2011.
