JACKSON, Mich. A 14-year-old Michigan teen got a little more than he ordered at his local Arbys restaurant when he bit into a roast beef sandwich and found a 1-inch piece of severed finger that included the fingerprint.

Ryan Hart said he was nearly finished with his sandwich when he tasted something rubbery" and spat it out. I was "about to puke ... It was just nasty," he said.

The Jackson County Health Department confirmed that the Arby's employee sliced her finger while operating a meat slicer and left her station without immediately alerting anyone to the accident. Other workers were unaware of the problem and continued to fill orders, and the restaurant did not close.

According to the Associated Press, John Gray, a spokesman for Atlanta-based Arby's, released a statement on May 16 apologizing for what he described as an isolated and "unfortunate incident." He said Arby's is still investigating, but has determined that the Jackson workers shut down food production as soon as they found out what happened and thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the restaurant. The injured employee was treated at a hospital. Gray said the franchise has fully cooperated with health officials and was given the approval to remain open.
