More Frozen RTE Meatballs Recalled Over Listeria

WASHINGTONBuona Vita, Inc., is recalling another 72,510 pounds of various frozen, ready-to-eat meat and poultry meatballs because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, USDAs Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced July 19. The New Jersey-based company initially recalled approximately 324,770 pounds of various frozen, ready-to-eat meat and poultry products, including meatballs, chicken and beef patties, and loaves of chicken and beef on July 7 for the same reason.

The latest recall involves 10- and 30-pound meatball products produced on June 26, 2012, and sold to distribution centers nationwide under the following brandsBuon Gusto, Mamma Cacciatore, Pisa, Sapore Italiano and Silver Lake. The packages bear the establishment number "P-954" or "Est. 954" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
