SHERBROOKE, QuebecNeptune Technologies & Bioressources Inc. will begin the reconstruction of its Sherbrooke production facilities this week.

The corporation plans to reconstruct an operational plant by overhauling the expansion facility that was under construction. In addition to receiving the necessary permits to begin work, Neptune has engaged engineering and architectural firms, and also recently hired a new plant manager.

Upon completion of the reconstruction, planned for end of fiscal year, the facility is expected to increase capacity to offer considerably more kilograms of Neptune Krill Oil (NKO®) per year.

Neptune recently fought in a patent battle to prohibit competitors from importing products that allegedly infringed on its patents. In May, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rejected a patent issued to Neptune, causing a temporary setback for the company.
