NEW CENTURY, Kan.DuPont Nutrition & Health unveiled a new five-species yogurt culture blend, YO-MIX® Greek, for use in the development of Greek-style yogurts.

The Greek-style yogurt phenomenon is a booming segment in the dairy industry, both in the United States and globally. New product launches of Greek and Greek-style yogurts comprised nearly 8% of global yogurt introductions during the 12-month period between June 2011 and June 2012. The easy-to-use, five-species blend is from the DuPont Danisco® range. It was designed to simplify the culturing process and reduce potential mixing and formulation errors during production. In offering all species in one blend, DuPont strives to ensure consistency of culture delivery and to eliminate plant mixing and measuring of starters. In addition to streamlining the production process, the balanced blend delivers a mild, less acidic, dairy flavor over the shelf life of the yogurt.

The DuPont Danisco portfolio also offers ingredients to add value to Greek-style yogurt, including lactose-free solutions, pectin fruit preparations, soy-based protein, stabilizer solutions and vitamin K2, allowing manufacturers to differentiate their end consumer product.
