NEW YORKNew York City Assemblywoman Barbara Clark (D-Queens) has put forth a bill that would criminalize the sale of any product containing high-fructose corn syrup in the citys restaurants or retail stores. Specifically, the proposed legislation states sold, stored, distributed, held for service, or used in preparation of any food product to be served or sold in any restaurants, food service establishments, retail food stores
Other recently proposed New York City legislation includes a proposal to ban use of salt in preparation of meals in restaurants and a tax of $0.01 per oz. of any beverage that includes caloric sweeteners.
