OTTAWACanadian health officials cannot confirm that the Listeria-related death of a Quebec man was related to the Listeria outbreak linked to a recall of Maple Leaf Foods deli meats last year.

CBC news quoted Quebec health officials last week as saying it was the twenty-first death linked to Maple Leaf Foods. On March 6 CBC reported that the health officials later explained the man's death resulted from a strain of Listeria that also was detected in some Maple Leaf foods, but that they couldn't definitively say the death was linked to the company, reported Meatingplace.
