NPA Certifies 1,200th Natural Seal

WASHINGTONThe Natural Products Association (NPA) Natural Seal program gave its 1,200th certification in the natural products and ingredients industry. The program is the first and only natural certification in the United States, allowing manufacturers to use the Natural Seal on their labels for easy consumer identification.

The NPA is leading the trend toward natural in America. In todays marketplace, many products claim to be natural when theyre not. How can shoppers be completely confident that the items theyre purchasing are truly natural? The solution is the Natural Seal," said John Shaw, NPA executive director and CEO. Nationwide, more and more people are making the choice to go natural for the products they buy. The Natural Seal helps them quickly and easily identify truly natural products for themselves and their loved ones."

Cara Welch, Ph.D., NPA senior vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs, said the association has seen brand of all sizes apply for the certification. The growth in the program in just one years time has been phenomenal," she noted. "Its exciting to see the accelerating demand for natural products."

From March to June, NPA reported a 30-percent increase in Natural Seal certifications. More than 85,000 stores nationwide carry Natural Seal-certified products, made by 91 different manufacturers.
