VANCOUVER, Wash.—Bergstrom Nutrition announced that its trademarked MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), OptiMSM, is officially registered with Informed-Sport and Informed-Choice to be free of banned substances after thorough testing and audit.

“Achieving the Informed-Sport designation supports our commitment to the sports segment," said Jane Duvauchelle, sales director at Bergstrom Nutrition. “The designation provides our brand partners with additional assurance that OptiMSM is of the utmost purity, and a safe choice for competitive athletes."

Informed-Sport and Informed-Choice are globally recognized quality-assurance programs that certify specific  food supplements and ingredients are free of banned substances found on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibited list, as well as lists from organizations such as the NFL, NCAA and MLB. The standard supplement-screening test covers 146 substances that are prohibited in sport.

OptiMSM is designated as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) by FDA and is approved for use in a variety of products, including supplements, nutrition bars and beverages.
