Pharmachem Laboratories Inc. Obtains GRAS Status

KEARNY, N.J.Pharmachem Laboratories Inc., through its subsidiary, Improve USA, announced the self-affirmed GRAS status of its decolorized inner gel and whole aloe leaf powder products.

The powder products were determined GRAS as described in finalized documents and reviewed by an independent expert panel qualified with the relevant scientific training and experience.

The aloe powders acquired all the rights and privileges described in the law and regulations regarding GRAS self-affirmation.

 Aloe vera has been used in topical preparations for years, and its benefits as a soothing moisturizer are well known," said Peter Hafermann, president of Improve USA. "More recently, aloe vera has become popular for oral use in dietary supplement applications in tablets, capsules and beverages and our Industry is showing interest in including Aloe vera in food systems.

"The GRAS status of our ingredients allows our customers to include our aloe vera powders as food ingredients in their products, including fruit juices, baked goods, teas, meal replacements, protein based products," Haferman said.
