DALLASFour cases of a rare Salmonella infection in Texas have been linked to raw milk and three of the four cases have been linked to a single dairy farm in Plano, Texas, according to the Dallas County Health and Human Services.

Health officials reported a 56-year old Dallas County resident was hospitalized after drinking unpasteurized milk, and has since recovered. Three other similar cases have been reported to the state in recent months. All four were linked to raw milk. The raw milk sold at Lavon Farms tested positive for the same bacteria found in the three cases.

Even though these products can be bought and sold in Texas, the public should avoid consuming raw milk or raw milk products because of the risk for potentially deadly bacterial infections," said DCHHS Medical Director Dr. Steven Harris.
