Ready Pac Issues Massive Apple Recall Over Listeria

WASHINGTONMissa Bay LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ready Pac Foods, Inc., of Swedesboro, N.J., is recalling 293,488 cases and 296,224 individually distributed units of fruit, vegetable and sandwich products containing apples because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced. The recalled products were sold to foodservice outlets, including McDonald's and Burger King, as well as at supermarkets and convenience stores in 36 states and the District of Columbia.
The recall was initiated after Listeria monocytogenes was found on equipment used by Missa Bay to produce the apple products. The recalled products distributed to retailers and foodservice operators in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
The recall involves the following:
