BASEL, SwitzerlandResistAid (from Lonza), a proprietary natural immune support ingredient extracted from larch trees, helped significantly reduced the number of common colds by 23 percent, in a study published in Current Medical Research and Opinion (Curr Med Res Opin. 2013 Mar;29(3):251-8).

The placebo-controlled, double blind study used 199 healthy participants between the ages of 18 and 70. Researchers split the subjects into two groups,, one taking a daily dose of 4.5 grams of ResistAid and the other taking a placebo for 12 weeks. Based on natural acquired common cold episodes, researchers measured the effects of supplementation with ResistAid.

ResistAid is self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) and contains larch arabinogalactan and bioactive polyphenols and can be used in dietarysupplements and functional foods. It can be applied with other products to enhance functionality or used by itself.

In December, a new study published in Food and Nutrition Sciences found immune ingredient ResistAid to be well tolerated.
