BURLINGTON, Wis.Nestlé USA resumed a production line May 2 at its Burlington confections and snacks business facility that had been closed since April 29 for additional cleaning after a chocolate morsel sample tested positive for Salmonella, according to a report in The Journal Times.

We received one positive test result for Salmonella on one sample of morsels, said Nestlé USA Spokesperson Laurie MacDonald. The product remains under our control and no product was shipped to customers. As part of our extensive quality procedures, we also tested product manufactured both before and after this single positive sample and all product tested negative.

The company currently is investigating the source of the contamination. This is the second time this year the plant has shut down a production line after a positive Salmonella test.
