ATLANTAThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that the Salmonella outbreak that has sparked a national food-safety concern and federal investigation has sickened 666 people in 45 states and been linked to nine deaths.

The outbreak is linked to peanut butter and peanut paste products processed at the Peanut Corporation of America's Blakely, Ga., plant.

The FDA and CDC are concerned that illness will continue to occur if people eat recalled peanut-containing products still on their shelves at home. They are calling for consumers to check at home for recalled peanut butter containing products and discard them.

Major national brands of jarred peanut butter found in grocery stores are not on the PCA recall list.

More than 2000 peanut-containing products produced by a variety of companies may have been made with the ingredients recalled by PCA. The list of recalled products can be found on the FDA Web site by clicking here.
