Salmonella Prompts Clover Sprouts Recall in 4 States

WASHINGTONSprouters Northwest Inc., a of Kent, Wash., firm on Jan. 1 announced a recall o f all its clover and clover mix products distributed to retailers and in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced. The recall was initiated after a number of Salmonella illnesses were linked to the companys sprouts.

The recall involves 4-ounce and 5-ounce containers of clover sprouts; 1-pound bags of clover; 2-pound trays of clover; 4-ounce and 5-ounce containers of clover onion sprouts; 4-ounce and 5-ounce containers of deli sprouts; 4-ounce containers of spicy sprouts; and Brocco sandwich sprouts in 4-ounce containers of Brocco sandwich sprouts. The recalled products have a best by" date of Jan. 16, 2011 and earlier.
