Salmonella Prompts Smuckers Chunky Peanut Butter Recall

WASHINGTONThe J.M. Smucker Co. announced a limited voluntary recall on two specific best-if-used-by dates of 16-ounce Smucker's® Natural Peanut Butter Chunky because it may be contaminated with Salmonella, USDAs Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The recall involves 16-ounce jars of Smucker's® Natural Peanut Butter Chunky with UPC 5150001701, production codes 1307004 and 1308004, best-if-used-by dates of Aug. 3, 2012 and Aug. 4, 2012. The chunky peanut butter products would have been purchased between Nov. 8-11, 2011 the company said.

The recalled products were distributed in Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia.
