WASHINGTONAmerican Lifestyle is voluntarily recalling "sexual performance" capsules that contain undeclared drugs. The products could lower consumers' blood pressure to unsafe levels if the substances interact with nitrates found in prescription drugs, the company revealed last week through a press release posted on FDA's website.

The company said it is unaware of any adverse events related to the recall of Vicerix and Black Ant, which are sold online and through retail outlets.

An FDA analysis found the products contained FDA-approved drugs (Tadalafil and Sildenafil) that are used to treat erectile dysfunction, according to the press release.

"These undeclared active ingredients poses a threat to consumers because tadalafil and sildenafil may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs such as nitroglycerin and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels," American Lifestyle warned. "Consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates."

American Lifestyle promotes the products "for increasing desire and sexual performance."

All lots of Vicerex UPC 893490820087 and Black Ant UPC 4026666142546 are being recalled, and customers who have purchased the capsules are advised to immediately discontinue using them and return the product either directly to American Lifestyle or to the place where it was purchased.

In related news, Chang Kwung is conducting a voluntary recall of Lightning Rod capsules because they were found to contain an analogue of Sildenafil. The recall affects dietary supplements that are sold under the brand name Lightning Rod 500 mg per capsule packaged in 3-count, UPC 6 89076 20257 2 and 12-count bottles, UPC 6 89076 20297 8.

The company said it is unaware of any adverse incidents or illnesses related to the product, which is "sold over the counter as a dietary supplement marketed for male sexual enhancement."

Chang Kwung Inc. has advised customers to return the affected products to the company directly for a full refund.
