Solbar's Sales Growth Tops in Israel

ASHDOD, Israel--Solbar Industries Ltd. increasedsales by 44 percent in 2001 to $57 million; the growth places Solbar among the10 leading companies in sales growth in Israel, according to Dun &Bradstreet. Gary Brenner, marketing director for Solbar (www.solbar.com),said the growth was due in part to Solbar Hatzor assuming full marketingresponsibility for export of its soy protein concentrates and textured soyconcentrates, following termination of a partnership with ADM Soya Mainz inDecember 2000. Also, the company's nutraceutical division, Solbar PlantExtracts, showed dramatic sales growth in soy isoflavones.

Brenner noted the company is poised for major expansion; itpurchased a line of steam-textured soy proteins (Bontex) from IFF in November2001, and will complete a major investment on a new line of multi-functional soyprotein concentrates (Solcon S) this October. Solbar has two production sites inIsrael and one in the United Kingdom; all three plants are certified ISO 9002and kosher.
