Sunflower Farmers Market Tills Produce

BOULDER, Colo.— Sunflower Farmers Market is staying true to the term “farmer’s market” by growing organic produce on its 40-acre commercial farm southwest of Longmont. The farm will supply about 5 percent of the produce to Sunflower’s Boulder and Denver stores, reported the Denver Post.

The first crops were planted this year on a 2-acre section of the farm; next year, it will expand to 12 acres and a 4,000-square-foot greenhouse powered by wind and solar energy. Crops include arugula, bok choy, cabbage, collard greens, peppers, radishes, squash, turnips and various lettuces.
