Tainted Cilantro Triggers Recall of 23 Products

WASHINGTONOrval Kent announced a major recall of 23 products, including popular items sold by California Pizza Kitchen and Trader Joes, because they may contain Salmonella-tainted cilantro, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Nov. 5.

The fresh cilantro was produced and distributed by EpicVeg Inc., of Lompoc, Calif., which distributed the cilantro to Field Fresh Foods, a produce supplier to Orval Kent. Nearly 44,000 pounds of the recalled products were distributed to retail stores nationwide.

The recalled products include Bistro 28 Cranberry Mango Pico de Gallo, California Pizza Kitchen BBQ Chopped Chicken Salad, Chef Solutions Mexican 5 Layer Dip, Fish House Foods Ceviche, Fish House Foods Fajita Chicken Salad Kit, Fish House Foods Southwest Fajita Bean Salad with Chicken, Fry's Krab Ceviche Fry, Orval Kent Chipotle Chicken Pasta Kit, Orval Kent Cilantro Pecan Dip, Trader Joe's Cilantro Dressing, Trader Joe's Cilantro Pecan Dip and Trader Joe's Spicy Peanut Vinaigrette.
