Tyson Recalls Ground Beef Over E. coli

WASHINGTONTyson Fresh Meats Inc. is recalling approximately 131,300 pounds of ground beef products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, USDAs Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Sept. 27.

The recall involves 5-pound chubs of Kroger-brand "GROUND BEEF 73% LEAN - 27% FAT" packed in 40-pound cases containing eight chubs; 3-pound chubs of Butchers Brand "GROUND BEEF 73% LEAN - 27% FAT" packed in 36-pound cases each containing 12 chubs; and 3-pound chubs of a generic label "GROUND BEEF 73% LEAN - 27% FAT" packed in 36-pound cases each containing 12 chubs.

The recalled ground beef was produced Aug. 23, 2011 and shipped to distribution centers in Indiana, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Delaware Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin for retail sale.
