RONKONKOMA, N.Y.US Nutrition recalled its Daily Multiple for Women 50 + Tablets because certain lots contain the undeclared allergen of fish gelatin. Supplement and food manufacturers are required by law to clearly identify on labels if a product has any ingredients that contain protein derived from any of the eight major allergenic foods and food groups (milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat or soybeans).

The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 (FALCPA) also requires the type of tree nut (e.g., almonds, pecans, walnuts), the type of fish (e.g., bass, flounder, cod) and the type of Crustacean shellfish (e.g., crab, lobster, shrimp) to be declared.

US Nutrition recalled its Daily Multiple for Women 50 + Tablets because people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to fish run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. This recall was initiated after it was discovered that this product contains fish (fish gelatin), but was distributed in packaging that did not list the presence of Fish.

The tablet product was sold under the names CVS Daily Multiple for Women 50+, Giant Eagle One Daily Womens 50+, Kaiser Permanente Womens 50+ Daily Formula and Equate One Daily for Women 50 Plus. The products were distributed throughout the United States via retail stores and through the Kaiser Permanente Health Organization.

As of this date, no adverse reaction complaints have been reported relating to this recall.
