IRVINE, Calif.Cyvex Nutrition announced self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status for its BioVin® Full Spectrum Grape Extract and BioVin® 20 Grape Skin Extract, following a safety and toxicology review by an expert panel. The GRAS allowance means the grape extracts can be incorporated into a wide range of foods and beverages.

With this GRAS designation for our BioVin extracts, manufacturers can now transform conventional food and beverage offerings into functional products that deliver powerful antioxidant and heart health benefits, said Matt Phillips, president, Cyvex Nutrition. We have seen our BioVin advanced ingredient effectively incorporated into innovative finished products, and we expect BioVin to experience similar success, especially in beverage applications due to its high solubility.

BioVin is manufactured using whole red wine grapes, including stems, seeds and skin, to deliver the full phytochemical profile of polyphenols, anthocyanidins, trans-resveratrol and proanthocyanidins. The antioxidant ingredient can support general well-being, and may particulary support cardiovascular health. BioVin 20 contains no less than 20 percent polyphenols.
