Fortitech, Inc. Adds Technical and Sales Staff

SCHENECTADY, NYFortitech, Inc., the world leader in the manufacture of custom nutrient premixes, has experienced steady growth over the past several years. To ensure that Fortitechs long-standing commitment and dedication to quality products continues, the corporation has added three technical staff and an additional sales manager to its workforce.

Recently joining the laboratory as formulation scientists are Alejandra Gratson and Kevin Krall. Gratson earned a Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and B.S. and M.S. degrees in Food Chemistry from Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, Germany. Most recently, Gratson worked as a research/teaching assistant at the University of Illinois where she focused on cloning, expression, biochemical characterization and dehydrogenases. Fluent in Spanish and German, Gratson is also an active member of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) and the American Society for Nutrition (ASN). Kevin Krall earned a B.S. degree in Food Science from Penn State University, University Park, PA, and minored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Krall recently held a laboratory technician position with Turkey Hill Dairy where he specialized in flavor/application analysis and sample plating. As formulators with Fortitech, Gratson and Krall will both be, in part, working with customers to design customized nutrient premixes for finished food products and offer complete technical support as required.

Fortitech has added depth to its quality-control department by adding Sharlene Grenier as a quality-control assistant. Grenier is responsible for the release of each premix and ensuring that each order meets or exceeds Fortitechs long-standing dedication to quality and accuracy. In addition, Grenier accumulates laboratory data, reviews lab reports and prepares complete Certificates of Analysis for customers. Grenier received an A.S. degree, with honors, from Schenectady County Community College, Schenectady, NY.

Plus, to address its fast-growing premix business in the United States and Canada, Fortitech has added an additional regional sales manager by hiring Dana Brown. Responsible for the United States Mid-Atlantic, upper Midwest regions and part of Canada, Brown will focus on new business development, strategic sales marketing and key account management within those territories. Brown, who possesses a very strong knowledge of the food and nutrition industry, earned a B.S. degree in Business from the University of Indiana, Bloomington. Most recently, Brown was employed by the Kellogg Company where she served as a sales account manager in that companys snacks division based in Syracuse, NY.
