CHICAGOMarch is National Nutrition Month. As in past years, the American Dietetic Association is picking a theme and sticking to it. This year, the ADA public education theme for National Nutrition Month is Eat Right With Color." Throughout the month, ADA will remind consumers that an easy way to eat healthfully is to consume a colorful variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and dairy every day. A webpage for National Nutrition Month will include tips, games, promotional tools and nutrition education resources that reinforce the Eat Right With Color" message.
"The American Dietetic Association is committed to improving the nation's health, and one of the ways we do this is by providing science-based nutrition information to consumers in a way thats easy to understand and apply to their everyday lives," said registered dietitian and ADA President Judith C. Rodriguez. "National Nutrition Month offers a great opportunity to focus people's attention on a universal theme that cuts through the clutter of information and gets back to the principles of a healthful diet."
Initiated in 1973 as a week-long event, "National Nutrition Week" became a month-long observance beginning in 1980.
