LAS VEGAS Nebraska Cultures, Inc. will introduce ProDURA, a specific strain of Bacillus coagulans at the 2012 SupplySide West Global Expo and Conference on Nov. 7. This spore-forming bacterium has a natural protective coating. As a result, the strain stays dormant until it reaches the large intestine.

ProDURA is shelf stable for up to three years, and can be used in processed food, softgels and gummies. The probiotic also inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria, and produces lactase, which reduces the incidence of lactose intolerance.

This release is another nod to a flourishing industry, as Nandhini Rajagopal, Ph.D, noted in her INSIDER feature, "The North American Probiotics Market."
