MADERA, Calif.Stiebs Nutraceuticals launched two new fruit purees for the functional foods market. All of Stiebs purees are certified kosher.

Stiebs Maqui Berry Puree (Aristotelia chilensis) is also known as Cornus Chilensis or Chilean wineberry and grows on an evergreen shrub native to the rainforests of Chile and Argentina. Traditionally the berries and leaves have been used as both food and for medicinal purposes. The puree is not made from concentrate and has a dark purple color due to its rich anthocyanin content.

Stiebs Prickly Pear Cactus Puree is made from the Opuntia ficus-indica species of the prickly pear cactus that has been used in culinary and medicinal forms in Italy, Mexico and by Native Americans for decades. Stiebs Prickly Pear Cactus is grown and processed in Central California to retain the health benefits and bright fuchsia color of the fruit due to its high betalain content. The puree has soft watermelon and cucumber flavor notes.
